Depth reference

A fixed, identifiable point in or near a wellbore from which all vertical depth measurements are made. Common references include the rotary kelly bushing (RKB) on the rig floor, ground level, or mean sea level. All log data, core depths, and perforations are corrected to a single, consistent reference, which is documented on the log header.
