Reference point

A precisely defined location or depth from which all other measurements in a wellbore are taken or calculated. This point provides a consistent datum for correlating logs, perforations, and other downhole operations. Common reference points include the rotary table, kelly bushing, or ground level, with depths measured in feet or meters.
