Bridle

Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-000459

A length of flexible, insulated cable, commonly several tens of feet long, that links the logging cable to an electrode-type resistivity tool and holds the reference electrodes well away from the tool body. The cable armor beyond it serves as the return electrode for the measuring current. The mechanical weak point that releases the cable from a stuck tool lies in the cablehead and not in the bridle.
