Reflection

Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-003079

The phenomenon where a seismic wave encounters an interface between two different geological layers and bounces back into the original medium. This occurs when there is a change in acoustic impedance across the boundary. Reflected waves carry information about the depth and properties of the subsurface layers, forming the basis of seismic imaging.
