Reflection coefficient
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-003080
A dimensionless quantity that describes the amplitude ratio of a reflected seismic wave to the incident seismic wave at a geological interface. It is determined by the acoustic impedance contrast between the two layers. A reflection coefficient of 0 indicates no reflection, while a value of 1 or -1 indicates a complete reflection.
