Acoustic transparency

Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-000047

The property of a material or medium that allows acoustic waves to pass through it with minimal attenuation or reflection. A highly transparent medium would show little change in wave amplitude or waveform. In seismic imaging, zones of acoustic transparency can indicate homogeneous rock units or areas where seismic energy is poorly reflected.
