Acoustic wave
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-004213
A propagation of energy through a medium as a mechanical vibration, which can be detected by sensors. These waves travel at speeds determined by the density and elasticity of the material they pass through. In geophysics, acoustic waves are used in seismic surveys to image subsurface structures.
