Acoustic log
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-000043
A well log that measures the travel time of an acoustic wave through the formation adjacent to the borehole, typically expressed in microseconds per foot or meter. This measurement provides information about the compressional and shear wave velocities of the rock. It is used to determine porosity, lithology, and to generate synthetic seismograms for seismic-to-well ties.
