Sonic

Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-003506

Relating to sound waves, particularly those used in well logging to measure the travel time of acoustic energy through rock formations. A sonic log records the time it takes for a sound wave to travel a specific distance in the formation, providing an indication of porosity and rock mechanical properties. This measurement is typically expressed in microseconds per foot or microseconds per meter.
