Sonic log
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-003507
A well log that measures the travel time of an acoustic wave through a specific length of formation rock, typically expressed in microseconds per foot or meter. The tool emits a sound pulse and records its arrival at receivers, providing a continuous measurement of compressional wave velocity. This log is used to determine porosity, identify lithology, and calculate synthetic seismograms.
