Transit time
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-003897
The time it takes for a seismic wave to travel a specific distance through a rock formation. It is the reciprocal of velocity and is typically measured in microseconds per foot or microseconds per meter. Sonic logging tools measure transit time to determine the acoustic properties and porosity of reservoir rocks.
