Bivariate analysis

Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-000364

A statistical method used in reservoir characterization to investigate the relationship between two different variables. Geoscientists and engineers apply this analysis to pairs of data sets, such as porosity and permeability from core samples, or sonic log transit time and density. The relationship is visualized using a crossplot, which can reveal trends, correlations, or distinct rock types that inform the reservoir model.
