Long spacing sonic log
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-002216
A type of acoustic logging tool characterized by a relatively long distance between its transmitter and receivers, typically several feet. This longer spacing allows the tool to investigate deeper into the formation, reducing the influence of the altered zone near the borehole wall. It provides more accurate measurements of formation compressional and shear wave velocities.
