Longitudinal relaxation
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-002217
The process by which the nuclear magnetization of protons, aligned with an external magnetic field, returns to its equilibrium state after being perturbed by a radiofrequency pulse. This is a key principle in nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) logging, where the time constant T1 characterizes this relaxation. T1 measurements provide information about pore size and fluid type.
