Free-induction decay
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-001581
The transient signal observed in nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) measurements after a radiofrequency pulse excites the hydrogen nuclei in a formation. It represents the decay of the transverse magnetization of the protons as they dephase. The rate of this decay provides information about the pore size distribution and fluid mobility within the rock.
