Loose emulsion
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-002218
A mixture of oil and water where the two phases are not tightly bound, allowing for relatively easy separation. This type of emulsion forms when there is insufficient emulsifying agent or agitation to create a stable mixture. Loose emulsions can often be broken by simple gravity separation or mild heating, unlike tight emulsions which require more intensive treatment.
