Creaming
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-000881
The upward migration and accumulation of the dispersed phase in an emulsion, forming a concentrated layer at the top, without actual phase separation. In drilling fluid emulsions, this indicates instability but is reversible with agitation. It is a precursor to full breaking of the emulsion if left undisturbed.
