Invert emulsion

A drilling fluid where oil forms the continuous external phase and water is dispersed as droplets within it. This type of emulsion is also known as a water-in-oil emulsion. Invert emulsions are commonly used for drilling through reactive shales or in high-temperature, high-pressure environments due to their stability and inhibitive properties.
