Emulsion
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-001295
A dispersion of one immiscible liquid within another, where tiny droplets of one liquid are suspended throughout the second. In drilling fluids, this typically involves oil and water, forming either an oil-in-water or water-in-oil system. Emulsions are used to achieve specific fluid properties, such as lubricity, shale inhibition, and thermal stability.
