Invert-emulsion oil mud

Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-002033

A drilling fluid system where oil is the continuous phase and water is emulsified within it, forming a water-in-oil emulsion. These muds are highly effective for wellbore stability in reactive formations and for drilling in challenging conditions such as high temperatures or pressures. They typically contain emulsifiers, oil, water, and weighting agents.
