Coalesce

Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-000724

To merge or combine small droplets or particles into larger ones, a process that occurs in emulsions or suspensions within drilling fluids. This phenomenon can lead to the separation of phases, such as oil and water, if the emulsion stability is compromised. Coalescence is often undesirable in drilling fluids as it can affect fluid properties and performance.
