Depth of invasion
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-001017
The radial distance that drilling fluid filtrate penetrates into a permeable formation from the borehole wall. This invasion creates a flushed zone and a transition zone, altering the original fluid saturations near the wellbore. The depth of invasion can range from a few inches to several feet, depending on formation properties and drilling conditions.
