Invasion
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-002026
The process by which drilling fluid filtrate penetrates a permeable formation, displacing the native reservoir fluids. This occurs due to the pressure differential between the mud column in the wellbore and the formation pore pressure. The extent and characteristics of invasion provide information about formation permeability and fluid mobility.
