Diameter of invasion
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-001053
The diameter of the cylindrical zone around the borehole axis that drilling fluid filtrate has invaded, symbolized di. It equals the borehole diameter plus twice the depth of invasion, which makes it the natural parameter for azimuthally symmetric tools such as induction and laterolog devices. Its value ranges from a few inches beyond the hole size to several feet in permeable rock.
