Diameter of investigation

Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-001054

The effective radial distance from the borehole that a logging tool's measurement represents. This parameter indicates how far into the formation a tool can 'see' and is influenced by the tool's design and the physical properties of the rock. Different logging tools, such as resistivity or neutron tools, have varying diameters of investigation.
