Ultralong-spaced electrical log

Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-003968

A type of electrical logging tool that measures formation resistivity at a much greater depth of investigation than conventional induction or laterolog tools. By using a very large spacing between the transmitter and receiver coils or electrodes, it can read past the zone invaded by drilling fluid filtrate and measure the true formation resistivity. This tool's depth of investigation can extend more than 100 feet (30 meters) away from the borehole, depending on the tool design and formation properties.
