Deep induction
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-000969
A wireline logging measurement that provides a resistivity reading from a volume of rock far from the borehole wall, beyond the zone invaded by drilling fluid filtrate. The tool uses high-frequency alternating currents in transmitter coils to induce eddy currents in the formation, which are then detected by receiver coils. This deep measurement is intended to reflect the true formation resistivity, which is used to calculate water saturation in uninvaded hydrocarbon-bearing zones.
