Induction
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-001969
A logging method that measures the electrical conductivity of a formation without direct electrode contact. An alternating current in a transmitter coil induces eddy currents in the formation, which in turn create a magnetic field detected by a receiver coil. The magnitude of the received signal is proportional to the formation's conductivity, the inverse of resistivity.
