Induction
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-005797
The process by which the synthesis of an enzyme or other protein is initiated or increased in response to a specific molecular signal. This often involves the activation of gene expression, leading to a higher concentration of the protein within the cell. For example, the presence of a substrate can induce the production of enzymes required for its metabolism.
