Gene expression
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004807
The process by which information from a gene is used in the synthesis of a functional product. This product is often a protein, but can also be a functional RNA molecule such as transfer RNA or ribosomal RNA. Gene expression analysis, which measures the activity of thousands of genes at once, includes techniques like quantitative polymerase chain reaction (qPCR) and RNA sequencing.
