Gene silencing

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004814

The regulation of gene expression that results in the reduction or complete inhibition of the production of a gene product. This can occur at transcriptional or post-transcriptional levels, often involving epigenetic modifications or RNA interference. It is a natural cellular process that can also be induced experimentally to study gene function.
