Small inhibitory double-stranded RNA

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010946

A synthetic or endogenously produced double-stranded RNA molecule, typically 20-25 nucleotides in length, that mediates RNA interference (RNAi). This molecule guides the RNA-induced silencing complex (RISC) to target messenger RNA (mRNA) sequences, leading to their degradation or translational repression. It is a tool for gene silencing in research and has therapeutic potential.
