Small G protein

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010945

A family of monomeric guanine nucleotide-binding proteins that act as molecular switches in intracellular signaling pathways. These proteins cycle between an active GTP-bound state and an inactive GDP-bound state, regulating processes such as cell growth, differentiation, and cytoskeletal organization. Ras proteins are a well-known example within this family.
