Bone morphogenetic protein
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-001432
A group of multifunctional growth factors that induce the formation of new bone and cartilage. As signaling proteins, they regulate cell proliferation, differentiation, and apoptosis during embryonic development and throughout life. These proteins belong to the transforming growth factor beta (TGF-β) superfamily, with over 20 distinct members identified in mammals.
