Fibroblast growth factor

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-013102

A family of cell-signaling proteins involved in a multitude of cellular processes, including cell proliferation, differentiation, and migration. These proteins bind to fibroblast growth factor receptors on the cell surface to initiate downstream signaling cascades. They are particularly noted for their roles in embryonic development, angiogenesis (the formation of new blood vessels), and wound healing.
