Nerve growth factor

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-007835

A type of neurotrophin, a protein that promotes the growth, maintenance, and survival of neurons. It is particularly involved in the regulation of sensory and sympathetic neurons during development and in response to injury. Nerve growth factor binds to specific receptors on the surface of target cells, initiating signaling pathways that support neuronal function and axon guidance.
