Growth hormone releasing factor
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-005047
A neurohormone produced in the hypothalamus that stimulates the anterior pituitary gland to secrete growth hormone. This peptide hormone acts on specific receptors on somatotroph cells in the pituitary, initiating a signaling cascade that leads to the synthesis and release of growth hormone. Its secretion is pulsatile and regulated by neural and hormonal inputs, influencing overall somatic growth and metabolism.
