Follicle-stimulating hormone releasing hormone
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-013115
A hypothalamic hormone that stimulates the anterior pituitary gland to release follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH). This neurohormone is a key regulator of the reproductive system, initiating a cascade that affects gamete development in both males and females. The term is now considered historical, as a single gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) has been shown to control the release of both FSH and luteinizing hormone.
