Luteinizing hormone
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006817
A gonadotropic hormone produced and released by the anterior pituitary gland, which stimulates ovulation in females and testosterone production in males. In females, it triggers the release of a mature egg from the ovarian follicle and promotes the formation of the corpus luteum. Its secretion is regulated by gonadotropin-releasing hormone from the hypothalamus.
