Testis
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-011895
The primary male reproductive gland, responsible for producing spermatozoa and male sex hormones, primarily testosterone. These paired organs are located in the scrotum in most mammals, where the slightly lower temperature is optimal for spermatogenesis. The seminiferous tubules within the testis are the site of sperm production, while Leydig cells produce androgens.
