Scrotum
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010601
A pouch of skin and smooth muscle that contains the testes in most male mammals. Its primary function is to regulate the temperature of the testes, maintaining it slightly lower than core body temperature for optimal sperm production. This temperature regulation is achieved through contraction and relaxation of the dartos muscle.
