Scrubber

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010602

An air pollution control device that removes particulate matter and/or gases from industrial exhaust streams. It operates by bringing the exhaust gas into contact with a liquid, typically water or a chemical solution, to absorb or react with pollutants. Wet scrubbers are widely used to control emissions of sulfur dioxide and other acid gases from power plants and industrial facilities.
