Scrubber

1. A device that removes air pollution, mainly sulfur dioxide, from smokestacks.

2. An air pollution device that uses a spray of water or reactant or a dry process to trap pollutants in emissions.

3. In wet scrubbing processes, liquid or solid particles are removed from a gas stream by transferring them to a liquid. The liquid most commonly used is water.
