Electrostatic precipitator
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-003794
An air pollution control device that removes particulate matter, such as dust and smoke, from a gas stream by using electrostatic forces. It works by charging the particles as they pass through an electric field, then collecting them on oppositely charged plates. These devices are commonly used in industrial settings to clean exhaust gases before release.
