Electrostatic energy analyser
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-013066
A device in mass spectrometry or electron spectroscopy that separates charged particles based on their kinetic energy by using an electric field. Ions or electrons entering the analyzer are deflected by the electric field, and only those with a specific kinetic energy pass through to the detector. Common designs include hemispherical and cylindrical mirror analyzers.
