Analyser blanking
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-000544
An action in secondary ion mass spectrometry that stops chosen secondary ions from passing through the mass analyser to the detector, usually by pulsing an electrode potential in a time-of-flight instrument so that ions in a selected mass range are deflected away. It is applied to masses that give very intense peaks, so that they do not saturate the detector.
