Analogue-based drug discovery

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-012868

A strategy in medicinal chemistry where new drug candidates are developed by chemically modifying existing drugs or natural products. This approach involves making small structural changes to a known active compound to improve its efficacy, reduce side effects, or enhance pharmacokinetic properties. It is a common method for generating "me-too" drugs.
