Me-too drug

A pharmaceutical agent that is structurally similar to an existing drug and acts by the same mechanism of action, but is developed and marketed by a different company. These drugs aim to capture a share of the market by offering perceived advantages such as improved safety profiles, different dosage forms, or lower costs. They are also known as follow-on drugs or drug analogues.
