Onset of drug action

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008243

The time interval between the administration of a drug and the first observable therapeutic effect. This period is influenced by the drug's physicochemical properties, the route of administration, and the patient's physiological state. For orally administered drugs, it typically includes the time required for disintegration, dissolution, absorption, and distribution to the site of action.
