Administration of drugs respiratory route

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-000268

The delivery of a therapeutic agent to the body through the respiratory tract, including the nasal passages, pharynx, larynx, and lungs. This method allows for rapid absorption into the bloodstream due to the large surface area and extensive vascularization of the lungs, providing a quick onset of action for systemic effects. Formulations for this route include aerosols, nebulized solutions, and dry powders for inhalation, such as those used in asthma inhalers.
